Michael's experience as a musician has taken him across the globe, having performed in such places as the Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall in London and The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Michael's passion for instrumental music education has led him to discover his purpose in music and more broadly, artistic culture in Australia and beyond...

Behind The Music
As a child Michael grew up in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. He then pursued his education in Brisbane before settling in Victoria in 2015. His interests include golf, Scandinavian and Greek mythology, history, politics, good food and whiskey. He lives with his wife, a primary school teacher, and their three dogs, Hugo, Luna and Winnie.

The primary philosophy of the Expressions Music studio and movement is to foster and encourage self-expression within a grassroots music culture through string and keyboard pedagogy.

Grassroots culture is anything creative that is done by an individual or collective for themselves or the community. For example, one might want to learn an instrument and just play for themselves and/or their close friends. Grassroots culture encourages the individual and/or community to have a go and to not be deterred by the industry of professionalisation in music and the arts more broadly. Doing something creative for yourself and/or your community is valid and contributes to society’s cultural health!
